Inis Meáin Wool and Cashmere Reverse Carpenter's Jacket

Inis Meáin created a reverse style of their much-loved Carpenter’s Jacket which makes the intricate and unusual interior detailing visible. Inspired by the jacket once worn by one of the Island’s carpenters, this is a comfortable alternative to a classic workwear staple, the chore coat. The luxurious merino wool and cashmere blend creates a soft feel with strength, while the saddle shoulder ensures a flattering, relaxed fall, making layering easy. Features two pockets at hip-level and a third (an interior hidden pocket on their original Carpenter’s Jacket) at breast height. Finished with a row of smooth Buffalo horn buttons.

Crafted from a blend of super Geelong merino wool and cashmere made to the highest European environmental standards using only organic and premium quality dyes.

About the Brand
Founded in 1976 by Tarlach de Blacam, the Inis Meáin Knitting Co posses one of the most interesting and romantic stories in the business.  Tarlach, a graduate in Celtic languages from Trinity College, came to the Island and founded the company as part of an Ireland cooperative enterprise aimed at providing employment for residents on the Island and to help protect the local crafts and heritage.  Inis Meáin finds its inspiration from ancient knitting techniques and designs produced to keep the Aran fisherman protected from the harsh weather and treacherous seas of the Atlantic Ocean. Using luxury yarns and an updated colour palate they produce truly unique knitwear pieces grounded in tradition but with a modern sensibility.
